The new shoots emerge blood red, fade to green at the base then eventually turn transluscent. It hits it's peak in mid to late summer when the stems can reach 40cm or so. Great in containers or with other ornamental grasses. Slow to medium growing, over time clumps can spread to 30cm or so. Cut old stems back to the ground in late winter or early spring just before the new
